Parent - Toddler Class:
This is the perfect opportunity to get your toddler ready for Preschool. We teach educational themes each week and you and your toddler will work on an art project, read a story, spend time in each preschool classroom and have snack with the other students. Class meets Wednesday mornings for one hour. Age: 2 to 3 year olds.
3 Year Old Program:
The 3 year old program offers the rotation into the different classrooms during the school day. Different activities are offered to the children taking into account their shorter attention spans. The major goals for the 3 year olds are: socialization, focusing/staying on task, following directions and working on fine motor skills. Morning classes meet from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m and afternoon classes meet from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. two or three days per week.
4 Year Old Program:
The 4 year old program exposes the child to many activities that help with different areas of development. The major focus of the 4 year old program is the curriculum guidelines set forth and mandated by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Morning classes meet from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m and afternoon classes meet from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. three or four days per week.
The Pre-K program is designed to meet the needs of the five year old child who is not ready to meet the emotional and academic demands of a kindergarten program. The program follows the curriculum guidelines that are a combination of 4 year old and kindergarten skills. There is an increased emphasis on literacy and pre-reading skills. Pre-K students meet from 9 a.m. to noon four mornings a week.
Community Preschool offers many extra programs designed to benefit your children. Noontime Nibblers allows your child to stay an additional hour to play, eat lunch and socialize with peers. We also offer an Enrichment Program thoughout the year that enables further exploration of carefully selected concepts and themes. Students also benefit from special visitors throughout the year including the local Librarian, a Wildlife Specialist named Mr. E and representatives from the Chesterland Fire Department.
