Our Environment

Community Preschool is a non-profit, non-denominational program serving Chesterland and the surrounding communities. It is not affiliated with Christ Presbyterian Church or its religious beliefs. While we do not teach religion, we introduce children to major holidays in a non-religious context. Our curriculum emphasizes learning through play, offering activities that are suitable for children aged 3 to 5 years, while considering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. Our program is designed to expose each child to a range of content areas within a classroom environment.

Learn By Doing

A “hands-on approach” in the learning environment is beneficial for children as it allows them to explore and learn by doing while also encouraging them to discover more on their own. In this approach, the teacher takes on the role of a facilitator and provides the child with the necessary materials and settings to learn in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. This type of environment helps to build trust in the child with other adults and peers, which in turn helps them to develop positive self-esteem. It also encourages the child to take risks and try new things, which is essential for their growth and development.
